J. Barbour & amp; Sons was founded in 1894 in South Shields by John Barbour and began manufacturing rainwear in green waxed cotton fabric. During the First and Second World War, the company supplied clothing to the Army and Navy. In 1936, the company began to manufacture motorcycle clothing.
